Beginning in 2012, OneBeat has brought together young musicians from around the world for one month each autumn to collaborate on new projects. The exchange program, an initiative of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, has so far visited 26 communities in 14 states and worked with 140 musicians from 40 countries, according to a press release from Sisters Folk Festival. The program teamed with Caldera Arts Center and the Sisters Folk Festival organization in 2015, and returned this fall, bringing 25 musicians from 17 different countries for a one-month residency and tour. Find out what the group is working on at OneBeat’s first 2017 performance, at The Belfry on Saturday.
